Memory is hard to hold on to, it's fuzzy and uncertain and yet we rely on it everyday. This is normal, typical even, our brain fills in small amounts of missing information with context clues, therefore adding to the memory, even if its not accurate. On the other hand, without memories we would not know who we are, where we came from, or who we know. Memory is often associated with emotions and it has this way of making us see our memories as fact. Photography also has this connotation of being seen as real or fact. But it too can be manipulated, changed, and filled in with other information to create an emotional response.

I am using multiple exposure, taking more than one photograph on a single picture plane, as my process. The multiple exposures as well as the lack of complete control of the camera allows for a hazy and fragmented photograph. I invite light leaks into the work as it gives the photographed memories more room for an unclear picture to appear. Light leaks are where the light has seeped through the seems of the camera and affects the film by leaving streaks of green, magenta, red, yellow, and orange. The dust and scratches have been left on the film as well to increase the effect of missing information. I have used traditional and digital practices to edit the photographs and push the memory narrative.
